AMERICANS TWIST AND DISTORT TO KEEP IRAQ IN CHAINS

IRAQ HAS COMPILED A "FULL, FINAL AND COMPLETE"
ACCOUNT OF ITS PAST NUCLEAR WEAPONS PROGRAMS...
MONITORING AND VERIFICATION ACTIVITIES SINCE
OCTOBER 1997 "HAVE NOT REVEALED INDICATIONS
OF THE EXISTENCE IN IRAQ OF PROHIBITED EQUIPMENT
OR MATERIALS OR OF THE CONDUCT OF PROHIBITED
ACTIVITY."*

International Atomic Energy Agency Report (April 98)

MER - Washington - 7/7/98:

The Americans, to put it bluntly, are so full of it. They and the British keep finding one reason after another to keep the dastardly "sanctions" imposed on Iraq even though the country is prostrate and its military decimated. Meanwhile, the western powers, the U.S. in the lead, keep selling huge new weapons systems to the "client regimes" Arabs and constantly look the other way when it comes to Israeli weapons of mass destruction,  including the new nuclear-missile-carrying submarines on the way.

This week's LIE of the Week came from the American Ambassador to the U.N., Bill Richardson, who keeps leading the charge to keep Iraq choking under sanctions. It's not enough that the Americans have managed to kill over 5% of the Iraqi population; leaving most of the rest struggling for subsistence. It's "premature" to end sanctions Richardson keeps insisting, threatening senior U.N. officials, nearly all of whom, except for the  American-appointed Secretary-General, have been trying for some time to get the U.N. untangled from the web of deceit and death the Americans have spun.

Even the IAEA says Iraq's nuclear program has been completely destroyed; but the Americans find one excuse after another to keep Iraq not just "contained" but on its knees.
