ARAFAT AND THE "PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY"

What So Many Think But Can't Say

Bottom Line - If Arafat and colleagues in the "PA" had any political savvy they would tell Madeleine Albright - "Thanks for coming, but no need coming back for the Americans have lost whatever little credibility they had." But of course we all know how terribly incompetent the Arafat people are at the political game and how little independence of thought or action they have left.

Bottom Line - If Arafat and colleagues in the "PA" had any dignity, they would publicly tell Madeleine Albright "The American 'Peace Process' pushed so vociferously after the Gulf War has not only miserably failed, but we now realize what a deception it was all along designed to divert attention from the U.S. destruction of Iraq, to destroy the Intifada, and to deflect attention from the U.S.- Israeli alliance." But of course we all know that whatever dignity the PLO of Arafat might have once had has been totally squandered and dissipated into nothingness.

Bottom Line - If Arafat and colleagues in the "PA" had any true concern for the Palestinian people rather than just for themselves -- a people nearly half of whom remain in squalid refugee camps throughout the Middle East in still worse conditions than was the case before Arafat's signatures of recent years -- the new multi-million dollar villas of Gaza and the once secret (and some probably still secret) multi-hundred million dollar bank accounts would be turned over to the destitute people. But of course we all know that the Arafat crowd long ago put their own private interests far ahead of those of the Palestinian people.

Bottom Line -- Nowhere else in the world would political leadership that has performed so miserably, squandered so much, and been publicly exposed to be so terribly corrupt as well as inept, be able to continue holding onto power. Only in the sordid world of the Arab Middle East with its panoply of "client-regimes", American domination, muzzled press, and deceptive institutions could such a state of affairs persist through so many historic mistakes and defeats and over such a long period of time.
