IRAN - CONTINUING TO GROW IN POWER

While the public focus has been on Arafat and "terrorism", Islamic power and the military arms race continue to escalate in the region. The possibility of an Israeli, or an American, strike against Iran in the next few years is considerable. One of the most important and constant behind-the- scenes subjects between Washington and Jerusalem is what to do about growing Iranian military power. This situation is reminiscent of the period in the late 1980s when similar concerns were involved, but this time it was in regard to Iraq. As in the past, once the decision is taken to strike, finding an excuse is something the CIA and Mosad have a great deal of experiencing at concocting.]
