Patrick Seale is a veteran columnist and expert Middle East old hand; but for quite a long time now he has kind of represented the 'Arab establishment'....and that is a rather self-serving group desperate to grasp at anything to give even feint hope to all those who are disgusted with its ineptitude and gargantuan failings.
In this particular case Seale has pretty much got it right when he talks about Ariel Sharon and his entourage; but he rather pretends that the good guys are now Beilin and company without any serious analysis of their long history of political duplicity and backroom deals designed to trick the Palestinians into giving away all their rights in return for what is not really a sovereign 'Palestjnian State' even on the small areas that would now be included in various twisted ways in it (less than 22% of what was Palestine in 1947).
