"I've never heard anyone who has made this stuff as clear as you...  It was like
somebody had just opened the windows and
  the light came pouring in."

Anchorman Keith Morrison commenting about Mark Bruzonsky
during the historic White House Arafat-Rabin-Clinton ceremony.

Mark Bruzonsky holds dual advanced degrees in international affairs and law from Princeton University and New York University where he was a Root-Tilden Scholar.   He is a journalist and international affairs consultant and the publisher of MiddleEast.org as well as the now under development WashReport.  He writes and speaks frequently about world affairs, U.S. foreign policy, the Middle East, the underlying realities of policy-making in Washington, and U.S.-Israeli relations.  His now daily blog is headlined "Insightful, Irreverent, and Ferociously Truthful".

Bruzonsky was the producer and host of the weekly TV program Mid-East Realities from 1994 to 2004 when it was broadcast during primetime evening hours on all the cable TV systems in the Washington, DC area.  Many of these programs are now available online.

In the past Bruzonsky was Associate Editor of WORLDVIEW MAGAZINE in New York and Interview Editor of THE MIDDLE EAST MAGAZINE in London.  He also has been the Washington Representative for a number of organizations and foundations as well as a consultant on world affairs and the Middle East for a number of prestigious organizations including the Woodrow Wilson Center at the Smithsonian, Congressional Quarterly (CQ), The National Geographic Society, and Okaz Organization in Saudi Arabia.  He has edited a number of books including those published by the Wilson Center, CQ and National Georgraphic. Early in his career Bruzonsky was the first Washington Representative of the World Jewish Congress at a time when that organization was led by international leaders who were his mentors, Dr. Nahum Goldman and Philip Klutnick, and when the organization itself was in the forefront of making contact with with key Arabs and Palestinian leaders which Bruzonsky was instrumental in accomplishing.

In these many and varied capacities Bruzonsky has made more than 200 international trips to over 45 countries.  He has been the official guest of many organizatons and governments including Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, the PLO, Tunisia, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Pakistan and Austria.

Very early in his career Bruzonsky made world headlines when he personally met privately and alone for an hour with Egyptian President Anwar Sadat to encourage him to visit Israel.  The next day a picture of Bruzonsky meeting with Sadat appeared on the front page of Egyptian newspapers.   As a result of the meeting Sadat sent an unprecedented page-long telegram to Israeli leaders which itself was front-page news in Israel.  And then a few days after their meeting in Cairo Sadat announced he would take the history-making step to go to Israel and Bruzonsky was among the guests at the airport that historic evening to welcome him.

Again in 1982 Bruzonsky made world headlines when he authored The Paris Declaration  published on the front page of LeMonde, France's leading newspaper.  This was a breakthrough event that greatly contributed to major political developments soon to take place leading to the formal acceptance of the PLO of the "Two-State Solution" in 1988.

During his graduate school years Bruzonsky was Chief Representative at the United Nations of the International Student Movement for the UN.   For more than a decade, from 1982 through 1994, Bruzonsky wrote a regular bi-weekly syndicated newspaper column called From Washington  published in leading newspapers in the Middle East including in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, and Israel/Palestine.  From 1988 through 1995 Bruzonsky was Chairperson of the Jewish Committee On the Middle East (JCOME), an organization of Jewish intellectuals and professionals which was the first American Jewish organization to call for a fully sovereign and independent Palestinian State.  The JCOME Statement of Principles  and other JCOME statements were published in the Congressional Record and in over 50 newspapers and magazines including The New York Review of Books, The Nation, and LAWeekly.

Bruzonsky has lectured at many universities and World Affairs Councils, Rotary Clubs and other public affairs organizations.  He has given keynote and major speeches at a number of leading universities including Princeton, The University of Chicago, Lawrence University, the University of Illinois, and Morehouse College.   Bruzonsky was also twice invited to lecture about U.S. foreign policy and the Middle East at the U.S. Army War College.  During the historic White House signing ceremony with Yitzhak Rabin, Yasser Arafat, and Bill Clinton, Bruzonsky provided the live commentary for Canadian Television .

Having lived in Washington, DC, for many years Bruzonsky has a special grasp of how the political, legal, and social systems intersect with the vast array of think-tanks, media organizations, lobbyists, and foreign representatives.   His written articles and extensive interviews with key figures including former U.N. Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Israeli leader Shimon Peres, Yasser Arafat, Edward Said, Robert Fisk, Moussa Abu Marzook, Noam Chomsky, and other important political and intellectual personalities have appeared in more than 35 magazines and newspapers in eleven countries throughout the U.S., Europe, Israel, and the Arab world.
